O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!
and know everything about me.
Psalm 139: 1-6
Obviously, I am not telling God anything He doesn't already know, now am I? Yet as I write, He gives understanding to me.
As I've grown older, there are so many Bible verses that used to confuse and depress me. These same verses now bring me comfort and hope. As in the fact that grass withers and flowers fade. Sounds depressing? No! It gives me hope that this world is not my home. I am only passing through and as long as I hang onto that thought I move into a place of safety and refuge!
I do not belong to this world.
